Interview with John Casale

            •            Why do you choose movie major?

-I always found film fascinating, between the pre-production, the actually filming, and the post-production. The amount of time and creative idea is just so overwhelming that I just want to be a part of.  To be part of a movie would be the greatest thing for me, knowing that I can become part of a flawless masterpiece would be a dream of mine.  So know I wish to learn whatever I can to possibly be a part of it.

            •           How do you get the idea of the topic for “the night?”

-"The Night" was an idea that was built on an idea the two actors that I worked with, came up with.   After that we had a set idea on what to do but we help directed how we wanted the characters to act towards each other.  It was unscripted so we mostly improve most of the scenes, and both actors played off each other very well, making the piece very entertaining.

            •           You alter on your way combining your friends’ ideas on the movie, so do you prefer working with team? Why is it so, or it is not so?

- I would rather work with other cause I can only do so much.   There's a lot that is put in a piece to help create the illusion that is there.  I need to one to hold the microphone, someone to act, someone to help hold the camera, I can only do so much but with other people I can trust creatively, they all can help make what I've imagined in the first place and put it together to make it entertaining.

            •           What is the story about?

-"The Night" is about a couple who have been together for a couple of years and finally they decide to finally take their relationship to the next step.  But the night turns short after the guy realizes something was "missing".

            •           Why do you want to create like the imaginative fiction story, rather than documentary? How do you like about creating fiction?

-I rather do fiction then documentary, documentary is facts that are true and cannot be altered at anyway, with a fiction film you put the audience in a story where they can suck themselves in this world that I've created for their minds.  Separating them from reality for a certain amount of time.

            •           On Second movie, why did you choose the stop motion cut?

-The stop motion came from something I saw on T.V, the stop motion added a type of comic vibe to the alternating story that is told in film stills, giving the viewer time to observe what is going on compared to what is actually going on.

            •           What is your aim on setting up opposite impression between the story he tells us and the scenes you take?

-The opposite impression between how the situations sound and to what the viewer actually sees, adding humor to the story of classic slap-stick type of comedy.

            •           How you want to create and present your movie?

-I want to create my movie in the best quality possible.  I want to be able to keep whoever is watching it to stay interested, stay in the world I've created for their minds to be entertained and actually experience the happenings on the screen they are watching.

            •           Do you want to create the movie for thesis by developing on previous projects or totally something new? Why is that?

-I rather create something new and fresh.  For my thesis I wish to take everything that I've learned over the past years and hopefully great create something professional and clean with great quality.

            •           Which processing steps you like the most?

-My favorite process would have to be when I edit all the footage that I filmed and put it together.  The satisfaction I receive when it all comes together is exciting enough when playing the movie back over and over again see that it's as perfect as can be.

            •           Do you have all ideas and details before you being to take film?

-Well I should have everything all planned but sometimes I think of new things that see right on the spot.  whether it's a different kind of angle shot or how I want someone to say a certain line it really varies that’s why it's always to take multiple shots before moving on.

            •           What do you want to be after you graduate?

-For a dream job it would have to be, being on a movie set and being involved with the whole productions with the film itself. But if all doesn't go well I have some skills that’s enough to fall back on and do other job whether it's being a camera man or an editor for a broadcast station, whatever comes my way.
